Not-hypothetical situation:
Half an hour ago in the library, hundreds and hundreds of BYU students sat studying for finals. Then, the fire alarm goes off. Where I was sitting in periodicals, everyone looks up, exasperated. "Really? Really? A fire drill?"
1) It's 10:20 at night! What the crap
2) There was already a firedrill in the library today.
3) It's finals. Ugh.
4) All the other buildings on campus close at 11. So everyone who moved from the library to other buildings gets kicked out in 5 minutes. And the library won't re-open for another 20 minutes.
REALLY! ALL I'M TRYING TO DO IS BE A GOOD STUDENT!
This is utterly ridiculous.

SERIOUSLY. What the heck. I am pretty cheesed myself.
A possible explanation is that the library wanted to do a drill when the shelving department is all gone (the shelvers help let security know that some of the library departments are all out of the building). But maybe that isn't it at all. Either way, two drills in a day is lame. And it's fricking freezing outside. So, be upset at BYU. It's good for them.
My cousin who works library security said the evening alarm was a consequence of an electrical fire in the utility room. There was no danger once it was spotted--but whether on campus or off, fire protocol is fire protocol.
But yes, getting kicked out into the cold was terrible.
